Welcome to Cataloged Clutter! Today we’re adding our third 1999 Ultra WNBA card to our video collection. 1999 Ultra WNBA was one of two WNBA debut sets from the Fleer/Skybox company. We already have two rookies, the set ends with 25 of those and they are a bit more rare inserted 1:2 packs. This is our first base card. This set is really compact, and there are only 90 base cards. Other channels might start with the #1 Sheryl Swoopes card, but here, we respect the common card and are adding the #2 Christy Smith, a guard for the Charlotte Sting, a team that folded in 2007. Concerning basketball, this card is all about free throw percentage. As a freshman at Arkansas, she led the nation with .899, many have surpassed that since, but that is still an amazing number. Her assists and steals numbers, 507 and 239 are solid as well.
But even more fascinating is the “Did You Know?” information at the bottom. This card honors a founder of the Top Gun program, her grandfather Steve Smith. And where else can you find a card that mentions the player catching an eight-foot shark! Fun reasons to add this overlooked #2 card to our video collection!
