Welcome to Cataloged Clutter! Subscribe and collect with us. We’re building sets one card at a time and studying each of those cards in depth, no matter how common.
Fifteen top stars and rookies were chosen for this set. In my opinion, this is one of the few insert sets that use a player’s looks as the theme. I can’t think of another off the top of my head… In this set, “Good Looks” could be a pass, or “Good Looks” could be a nice setup for a shot. But the photos in this set vary (shooting, dribbling, etc.). The Beckett website says the theme is “players who put themselves in position to take over a game at any time” but, come on, this basically applies to any player in an insert set ever. The one consistent in “Good Looks” as appearance. They’re making modeling samples for the players. We have a close up of half of the player’s face in the metal foil on the left. And a clearer version of the same shot on the back. And this Lamar Odom card in particular stresses that he is lean, slender, and long-armed. The insert set name appears twice on the front, in the center in silver and on the right in the foil. The photo on the front rises slightly out of the texture, a very nice effect. They were inserted 1:6 packs, so not particularly rare.
Back to basketball…The reverse of the card is a good reminder about the excitement that surrounded Lamar Odom’s entry into the NBA.
Happy to add this Lamar Odom card to the collection! Good Looks… If you have a significant other with a crush on a particular player, maybe this insert set will get them interested in collecting! Just kidding, maybe it’s just this Odom card.
