I had a lot of fun with Collector’s Choice growing up because they were affordable for someone on an allowance and had just enough inserts and parallels to add for an occasional adrenaline rush. And if you didn’t know, Collector’s Choice also released there 1995-96 set in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Latin America, Portugal and Spain leading to the cards being available in multiple languages. But there are quite a few points of confusion with these cards. First, only the Japanese cards matched the numbering and structure of the US cards (a full set of cards numbered 1-410). For the other countries, there was a first set of cards numbered 1-210 and a second set numbered 1-200. These are usually referred to as Italian I/Italian II, German I/German II, etc. Second, the #1-200 of the set II does not match the order of the US set. For the International cards, the players are grouped alphabetically by team. Third, this causes an interesting feature with the UK set, commonly referred to as English I and II. The English I cards are identical to the regular US set since the numbering matches, but the English II cards have the European #1-200 numbering. So you’ll have a card that matches the US version in all features except for the card number.

Very important information to have if you try to collect all cards of a particular player, or you just want to take your Collector’s Choice cards to the next level. And now, this #82 Buck Williams card. This card matches #232 in the US set. One problem, because of spelling out the German words for height and weight, there wasn’t room to specify that Rocky Mount is in NC. So the US collectors get the state, but the German collectors, who are a lot less likely to know where Rocky Mount is, don’t have the state! Buck Williams, at the time of this card’s printing, was third among active NBA players in total rebounds with 12,033. He is now 16th all time finishing his career with 13,017.
