Obviously the title is clickbait, I know John Wooden occasionally lost, but stick around and study this card with us and you’ll be amazed at some of these stats! Today we’re adding the second card from the coach subset to our 1993 Action Packed Hall of Fame video collection. We already looked at the Red Auerbach, a great photo, embossed cigar and all… So our video collection now contains all ten cards from the “One on One” subset and two coach cards with the addition of this #12 John Wooden.
Great photo on this one as well! John Wooden’s presence is so strong, that he even overtakes much of the set name in gold foil on the left. But let’s turn this card over and simply be amazed at some of these numbers. One amusing feature of these coach cards is that they retain the heigh/weight template of the players, just in case you needed to know that Wooden is 5′ 10″ and 178 lbs. The win percentages are great, but it’s these bullet points in the middle of the card that are hard to believe. Nineteen conference crowns, 12 trips to the Final Four and 10 NCAA titles…four 30-0 seasons, seven straight chapionships, 88 consecutive victories, 98 straight home wins! This is what makes these historical sets essential for young collectors who didn’t grow up with these legends. We can at least encounter the history and facts like this should make one wonder, “Really, that’s not a typo?!”
Great card to add to the video collection! With history like this, sometimes all you have to do is read the card and let the facts speak for themselves!
