Most collector’s were buying up 1992-93 Stadium Club cards to find the Shaq and Alonzo Mourning rookies. But there was a second tier of rookie cards that collectors needed for their collections, including this #320 Latrell Sprewell. It’s another Series II rookie with the “’92 Draft Pick” gold foil on the front. Not all rookies were stamped this way.
It’s great to see college career paths that leave no question about NBA eligibility, and the back reminds us that Sprewell finished very strong. He “doubled his scoring average from junior to senior year.” It also mentions a neat University of Alabama record he holds of seven straight 3-pointers.
There’s an aspect of the design of 1992-93 stadium Club that I want to take a moment to discuss. On every card, on the reverse, there’s either a very small “A” or “B” at the bottom of the basketball. It’s a mysterious little thing… The “B” seems to occur on the Member’s Choice cards while the “A” occurs on the regular ones. My guess is that this was a template indicator that wasn’t removed later in the process. Format “B” was grabbed for creating Member’s Choice” and format “A” for everything else.
