The Card: Too bad there was overproduction during this time period, because this photo is hard to beat. Under the hoop perspective, tongue out, position very close to replicating the Jordan brand logo! Limited production would make this card unstoppable. But the vast supply has limited monetary value for this card. For example, the 2001 Standard Catalog of Basketball Cards lists it at $10, but you shouldn’t be paying too much more than $1.00 (including shipping!) to add this to your collection.
Variation: It is important to note that there are two versions of this Michael Jordan card! You have to look carefully at the reverse to identify them. The standard card has a thin black line below the card number and above the stats. But in another version, this line is missing.
Uncorrected Error: In the information at the bottom, it says, “All ‘Air Jordan’ did in 1989-90 was lead the league in scoring for the 3rd straight year…” Jordan was the scoring leader in 1986-87 through 1989-90, so this should say “4th straight year.”
In Short: These cards are different! And if you’re thinking, “I already know about these two,” stick around because there’s also a mistake on both versions! The difference is on the back, let me turn them over and you can pause and look for it. Do you see it? The one card is missing the black border line above the stats! But do you know about the mistake? Look at this sentence, “All ‘Air Jordan’ did in 1989-90 was lead the league in scoring for the 3rd straight year…” Jordan was the scoring leader in 1986-87 through 1989-90, so this should say “4th straight year.” Subscribe and collect with us at Cataloged Clutter if one or both of those facts were new to you!
